General Instructions:
1. PhD students can be registered at RMLIMS, Lucknow with co-guide at CSM Medical University, and other coguides from the Institute as well as other academic and research institutions in India & abroad, if infrastructure along with conducive academic environment exists with the guide and co-guide, who also have expertise in the area of research work proposed for PhD.
2. Any Department that is equipped to carry out research work can register a Ph.D. candidate in RMLIMS, Lucknow faculty who will guide the work in any basic and/or clinical medical sciences. The guide will have to register as approved Co- Guide/ Guide at from C.S.M.Medical University, Lucknow.
3. Also such candidates have to provide a certificate at the time of submission of synopsis from the employer stating that in the event of selection to PhD program the candidate will be granted for a minimum of 2 years study leave with the full pay and permission to work in RMLIMS, Lucknow.
4. There must be atleast one co-guide from the same/allied department as the guide, who is eligible to be PhD guide, so that in case of any eventuality like superannuation etc. of the Chief guide, the co-guide may take over as the Chief guide.
5.  If a faculty member is a co-guide for a candidate registered in another university, his/her candidate can conduct work within the RMLIMS, with the approval of the institutional ethics committee.Heads of the department of concerned
6. If the examiners recommend that the candidate be asked to improve the thesis, then after taking approval from the University through the Dean office, RMLIMS, the candidate will revise the thesis accordingly and resubmit the revised version,

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute Of Medical Sciences, Lucknow is an autonomous institute of U.P. Government, established on the line of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute Of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.The Institute is established as an autonomous, independent satellite centre under the Act of State Assembly similar to SGPGIMS in accordance with the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences Act Amendment dated 2004 under its own bylaws. The SGPGIMS will guide, supervise and coordinate in furtherance of the objects of the RMLIMS. This will ensure that the medical institute functions smoothly and independently in times to come and flourishes complementary/ supplementary to SGPGIMS.On 3rd June, 2006, Govt declared the Institute to be an independent Society.The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act 21,1860 and the Registration No. is 1982 ,2006-07 dated 4th Nov 2006.The main aim of this Institute is to provide super specialty facilities to the people easily.The Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences,Lucknow is a Super Specialty Hospital and one of the reputed and leading teaching Institutes established by the State Govt of Uttar Pradesh. The Chairman of the Institute is Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav ji. RMLIMS is situated in Vibhuti Khand Gomti Nagar locality of Lucknow. Besides super specialty treatment, institute would provide D.M., M.C.H., M.D., P.H.D., P.D.C.C. Degrees.It would provide holistic medical care including general care in various general,medical/surgical specialities,and in selected super specialties which are not available or grossly inadequate in this region.It will act as a secondary level as well as a selected tertiary level referral center for the poor population of this region at affordable cost.
